NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series “Blackwell” GPUs to be Released in Late 2024

NVIDIA’s next-generation GeForce RTX 50-series “Blackwell” gaming graphics processing units (GPUs) are expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2024 according to a recent report by Moore’s Law is Dead. This projected release timeline follows NVIDIA’s typical two-year product cycle for its GeForce RTX lineup.

The GeForce RTX 40-series “Ada” first became available in October 2022, while the previous GeForce RTX 30-series “Ampere” launched in September 2020. So a late 2024 debut for the anticipated RTX 50-series would align with past timing.

RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, RTX 4070 Super Release Date Confirmed !

NVIDIA is rumored to be launching its GeForce RTX 40 SUPER graphics card series in a staggered release over the course of three weeks starting in January 2024. According to leaked information from industry insiders, NVIDIA will first tease details about the RTX 40 SUPER series during its CES 2024 Special Address keynote on January 8th.

The first card expected to launch is the RTX 4070 SUPER on January 17th, just over a week after the initial announcement. The RTX 4070 SUPER will likely retain the same 12GB memory capacity as the standard RTX 4070 but with a higher 225W TDP. It will use the AD104 GPU with 7168 CUDA cores, delivering better performance than the non-SUPER variant.

One week later on January 24th, NVIDIA plans to release the more powerful GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, equipped with 16GB memory and the AD103 GPU. This graphics card will have the same 285W TDP as the standard RTX 4070 Ti that is currently available. With faster clock speeds expected, the 4070 Ti SUPER could become one of the most appealing options in the new SUPER lineup.

The flagship RTX 4080 SUPER will be the last to launch on January 31st. Using the full AD103 GPU with 10240 CUDA cores and 16GB of memory, it will match the RTX 4080 that is still widely sold today with a 320W TDP. The RTX 4080 SUPER is positioned to replace the non-SUPER model once launched.

In contrast to the staggered launch timing, NVIDIA seems to be planning to have both the standard RTX 4070 and its SUPER variant available simultaneously to appeal to different segments of gamers. However, the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 would eventually be phased out and superseded by the newer SUPER cards.

Another rumored change is that all cards in the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER family will require the controversial 12VHPWR power connector. Founders Edition versions of the graphics cards manufactured directly by NVIDIA are still up in the air though, with no concrete evidence that first-party models are being produced.

In summary, here are the reported NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER launch dates and models slated for release in the coming weeks as the next evolution of the Ada Lovelace RTX 40 series:

  • RTX 4070 SUPER – January 17, 2024
  • RTX 4070 Ti SUPER – January 24, 2024
  • RTX 4080 SUPER – January 31, 2024

With upgraded specifications and the familiar SUPER branding, NVIDIA hopes its refreshed graphics card lineup will resonate with PC gamers and hardware enthusiasts in early 2024. The staggered launch gives users time to evaluate each new offering before the next GPU arrives.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090D Release Date is on December 28th in China

Chinese consumers will soon have access to Nvidia’s latest GPU technology, albeit with some limitations. Nvidia is launching a special version of its flagship GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, the RTX 4090D, on December 28th exclusively for the Chinese market.

This new GPU comes in response to US export restrictions that have blocked shipments of Nvidia’s most powerful gaming and data center GPUs, including the original RTX 4090, to China and other countries. The restrictions target chips exceeding 4800 tera-operations per second (TOPS), so Nvidia has tuned down the RTX 4090D to comply.
